LCPS SB Member Andrew Hoyler bravely put out a statement today on where he really stood with the mask mandate. The timing seems a bit curious since the passing Governor Youngkin signed legislation in to law on 2/16/22 AND an injunction was issued just a few hours later against LCPS. Mr. Hoyler claims to be a believer in the “freedom of choice”. Is this only because of the rulings and an election this fall?
Let us not forget that on 1/18/22, Mr. Hoyler quickly voted (31 seconds) for a policy to punish and suspend our kids for not wearing a mask. Also, just last week during a BOS meeting he said that he stands firmly behind Ziegler. Hoyler claims he made his decision based on “legal advice”. Did John Beatty receive this same “legal advice”? I have yet to see any legal ramifications against Mr. Beatty. Was he not given any OR did John Beatty vote “no” because he truly believes in “freedom of choice”? I think we know the answer here. I reject Hoyler’s excuse and pathetic attempt to save face.
No Mr. Hoyler, I will not “take the moral high ground” or act “classy” to appease you or anyone else that voted to have my daughter suspended for (2) weeks as well as (29) other kids. You all had time for civility and blew it. I cannot wait for future SB meetings, you never know what a classless and morally bankrupt father might say.
