Update: LCPS Sterling Middle School “Sex Workers” SRO’s Insulting Investigative Conclusion: “Nothing Else to Report”
On 5/28/22 a story was posted called “LCPS Sterling MS: Cops Probe After Librarian Allegedly Says Students Are ‘Sex Workers’ To Justify Pro-Prostitution Book” (Daily Wire). Today, 6/6/22 Sterling MS SRO Ramon Rivera deep investigation was made clear, after asking the librarian ONE question, whether or not she was aware any students that might be in danger of being sexually trafficked. She said “no”, and the investigation came to a close as the deputy noted “Nothing else discussed, nothing else to report”.
I respect all law enforcement and “back the blue” but this was such a sloppy “investigation” it hardly qualifies as such. I’m not a detective or a deputy but it seems perfectly logical to ask a series of follow up questions such as:
- “Any idea why a teacher would have reported a conversation she had with you about how there’s kids who come to the library who do sex work, and this makes them feel validated”? OR
- “How frequently is this booked checked out of the library”?
- “Do you know how or are you able to identify signs of child sex work/exploitation? These kids live in a vulnerable area after all”
I find it insulting to the teacher that reported this and an extreme disservice to the students and their parents that the deputy didn’t have the fortitude to ask more than ONE simple binary question.
