7/20/21: LCPS Policy 8040 Discriminates Against Students That Want to Use Pronouns But Can’t Because They Are Not Gender Expansive or Trans.

LCPS Policy 8040 (trans policy) states:

LCPS 8040: RIGHTS OF TRANSGENDER AND GENDER-EXPANSIVE STUDENTS

Student Identification – Names and Pronouns.

“LCPS staff shall ALLOW GENDER EXPANSIVE OR TRANSGENDER students to use their chosen name and gender pronouns that reflect their consistently asserted gender identity without any substantiating evidence, regardless of the name and gender recorded in the student’s permanent educational record. School staff shall, at the request of a student or parent/legal guardian, when using a name or pronoun to address the student, use the name and pronoun that correspond to their consistently asserted gender identity.

The use of gender-neutral pronouns is appropriate. Inadvertent slips in the use of names or pronouns may occur; however, staff or students who intentionally and persistently refuse to respect a student’s gender identity by using the wrong name and gender pronoun are in violation of this policy.”

For the past year, LCPS has CLEARLY demonstrated that they are NOT of, by, or for the people. Board meeting after board meeting, the school board either falls asleep, is too busy taking pictures of parents making comments or worried about enforcing “Jazz-Hands” because the ancient tradition of clapping triggers microaggressions. Personally, I don’t think I’m alone here but there’s no way that LCPS will do the right thing and will pass ridiculous policy on August 10, 2021.

That said, why are gender expansive and transgender students the only “group” of people that are allowed to be referred to by pronouns and failure to do so by staff/students will result in some sort of punishment? I thought LCPS was all about ending discrimination and focused on inclusivity and equity? I’m not trying to start some new trend, I think this whole thing is stupid and dangerous.

However, what if there was a student that studied old English or theater and wanted to be referred to as Billy thyself/thine/thou? Thanks to the awful discrimination language baked into Policy 8040, little Billy will forever be known as Billy. Perhaps there’s an all around sports star named Lisa and Lisa wanted to be referred to as Lisa me/myself/I? Goodbye triple scholarship.

If we can beat them (for now anyways) or sue them for blatant discrimination, then we must insist on the fair and equitable treatment for all…..right? Just thinking outside the box. Below are approximately (100) pronouns to choose from.
